Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market to debut a new cultural culinary experience

May 19, 2016, Halifax, Nova Scotia – The Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market is excited to announce a new cultural experience for Halifax.

‘The Table’ is an intimate, cultural sharing experience through food and stories. The inaugural event will take place tonight, May 19, 2016 at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market starting at 6:30 p.m. Local chef Luis Clavel is preparing a wonderful, traditional Latin American meal. Throughout the evening, he will be sharing stories about the courses being served and how the food relates to his culture. Mr. Clavel was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in El Salvador and Guatemala before moving to Nova Scotia in his teens. Tickets for this event are sold out.

“The intention is to turn ‘The Table’ into a series of events featuring food, stories and experiences from different cultures,” said Julie Chaisson, Executive Director, Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market. “We have incredible diversity in Halifax and we wanted to do something unique that celebrates the many different cultures which make up our community.”

The Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market is home to over 250 vendors of different nationalities and backgrounds, selling a variety of wonderful, unique products. The vendors are farmers, artisans, bakers, and chefs who grow, produce and create what they sell.
